The Road to Brazil

With the World Cup finals now less than five months away, the list of warm up fixtures is slowly and surely been finalised. In addition to the long-arranged contests against Chile and Poland, the Nationalmannschaft will also face fellow tournament finalists Cameroon and an ever-improving Armenia in their final warm-up before departing for South America.

Joachim Löw’s side will kick off their 2014 fixture list against the dangerous Chileans in Stuttgart on 5th March, in a game that should see the debut of their new red and black Auswärtstrikot, and the Poles will make their visit to Hamburg on 13th May, just over a week before the team move to their training facility in Passeiertal, just north of Bozen in the Südtirol.

The first week of June will see the final build-up, with Germany taking on Cameroon in Mönchenglabach on the 1st, before Mainz hosts the national team for the first time five days later against the Armenians.

After what will hopefully be a good send-off in the compact Coface Arena, the team departs for Brazil and their training facility at the coastal town of Porto Seguro, some 1000 kilometres north of Rio de Janeiro.
