The table below lists the youngest twenty-five debutants for the Nationalmannschaft, since the team’s official full international match against Switzerland on 5th April 1908 in Basel.

When Willy Baumgärtner lined up in the starting eleven for that first match, he was the youngest member of the team at seventeen years and 104 days. This record has remained in place since then, with 939 further players joining the long list of those who have worn the Nationaltrikot. (As at the time of writing, 10th September 2018).

Uwe Seeler is the youngest postwar debutant, making his debut in 1954 at the age of 17 Years and 354 Days against France in Hannover. The most recent addition to the list – and the joint oldest of the twenty-five youngest debutants – is Bayer 04 Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz, who made his senior international bow against Peru in Sinsheim at the age of 19 years and 90 days – the same as Willi Arlt, who made his debut in January 1939.

In moving into the top 25 list, Havertz nudged out team mate Leon Goretzka, who was 19 years and 96 days old when he made his international debut against Poland in Hamburg in May 2014.
