The table below lists the youngest twenty-five debutants for the Nationalmannschaft, since the team’s official full international match against Switzerland on 5th April 1908 in Basel.

When Willy Baumgärtner lined up in the starting eleven for that first match, he was the youngest member of the team at seventeen years and 104 days. This record has remained in place since then, with close to a thousand players joining the long list of those who have worn the Nationaltrikot. (As at the time of writing, 25th March 2021).

Uwe Seeler is the youngest postwar debutant, making his debut in 1954 at the age of 17 Years and 354 Days against France in Hannover. The most recent addition to the list, joining Friedel Holz in joint fourth place, was FC Bayern München’s Jamal Musiala, who made his international bow in the World Cup qualifying match against Iceland in Duisburg’s MSV-Arena on 25th March 2021.
